Abigail and Brian’s Beautiful Tourist-y Outdoor Engagement Session
March, 25 2022
The day we met Abigail and Brian for their engagement photoshoot, we knew we were in the presence of true love. The sun graced the day, and shone down on us, giving us the perfect light for the day. Our photographers spent an entire day with the lovely couple, photographing their love, and excitement for a beautiful day they are about to embark on together. Abigail and Brain love the city and were excited to go back to the places they loved and adored the most to create permanent memories of the venues. Loving the city skyline as much as any tourist would, they were brimming with excitement and energy. Both of them were extremely happy that the sun was bright and shining since they loved the city on sunny days, and they knew the sun would make their engagement photoshoot bright and warm. Abigail and Brian shared that they felt that the city came to life and glimmered in the bright sunlight. Before heading out for the day, Abigail and Brian talked about the kind of engagement photos they’d like, of the venues they're going to take us to today, and which areas made them fall in love with the place. We were more than excited to photograph the couple, from the moment we met them, it was evident that they were deeply in love with each other. Shy smiles played on their lips even when they were talking to us about what they’d like to do during the day. We discussed the schedule for the engagement portrait and photo session and made plans on how to reach the different engagement photoshoot destinations.
Pittsburgh is a city steeped in history and historical relevance. Although the foundation of the city goes as far back as the 1700s with the first European settlement being built in the city, the recent past is peppered with revolutionary historical moments. The city played a crucial role in the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War in 1776, the infamous Whiskey Rebellion in 1791and the American Civil War in the 1860s. It was after the Civil War that the city’s economy began to boom, and the city began to bloom! With that came many changes in the city, and the bridges, which led the city to be nicknamed The City of Bridges, owing to the multiple bridges in the city, interconnecting to other cities. However, that’s not all that the charming city has to offer. Pittsburgh is covered with nature’s best and is peppered with multiple conservatories. With many gardens and conservatories in the city, there’s much to see, such as Phipps Conservatory, Schenley Park, Riverview Park, Emerald View Park, Highland Park, and Frick Park! Apart from this, the city has multiple universities, museums, for science and art, Point State Park, the Learning Cathedral, Senator John Heinz History Center, and many other tourist attractions, all of which make for the perfect venues for an engagement photoshoot, as well as amazing tourist attractions!
For the day of the engagement shoot, Abigail and Brian wanted to revisit the places that they’ve fallen in love with, together, since they met each other. Right after we met, the couple knew exactly where they wanted to pose for their engagement photos, and the places they’d like to go to. The two had made a list of the places, tourist attractions in the city they'd like to get photographed in front of. However, the two had realized that they wouldn't be able to capture all the venues they love for their photoshoot. So, instead of going to different locations that they wanted to, the couple decided on visiting the places they absolutely adored. For the day, Abigail and Brian chose to visit Mount Washington Overlook later in the night and wanted to visit Kingfly Spirits first. To match the beautiful vibe of the day, Brian dressed simply, in a blue button-down shirt and a dark pair of denim. Abigail dressed up in a minimal white outfit, as bright as the day. She paired a white blouse with white pants and drop-down earrings. To complete her look, she added a pair of wayfarers and nude-colored footwear! Abigail quietly informed us how she loved to dress in all-white outfits, and that she thought it made for the perfect look for an engagement shoot.
For the first part of the engagement photoshoot, the two put on the brightest of their smiles and posed for the cameras. Abigail and Brian were full of energy and told us about how they’d planned for the engagement photos beforehand. Our photographers did not have to step in to help them with poses. With the sun shining brightly, the two were quick to change poses to give us their best smiles. Apart from trying out the poses they had planned on when we offered ideas for the engagement photos, the couple added a twist of their own to the pose ideas to make themselves feel at home in front of the camera lenses. Choosing the sunniest spot in front of the Kingfly Spirits logo, the two perked up with smiles. As they decided which one of them takes which place for the photos, they shared some of their favorite times at Kingfly Spirits. To match his fiance’s vibe, Brian pulled out matching wayfarers to have coordinated photos from the session. From smiles to straight faces, the couple was exceptionally open to trying out different looks. And not only that, they had fun with the poses, sometimes even pulling up funny faces at each other just for laughs. As we were reaching the time to move on to the next part of the engagement photoshoot, the two softly whispered to each other, remembering the times they’d shared at Kingfly Spirits. Before we left, Abigail stole a quick kiss from Brain. As we were making our way to the next destination of the day, the couple found a few picturesque spots along the way and were quick to jump in front of the camera. The two found the perfect spot between the buildings lining up on one side and the shade of trees falling behind them to create the perfect backdrop! We utilized the urban setting by clicking a few shots of the two as they walked up to us, hand in hand. The pair also took us to their favorite spot next to the bridge. Even though they had visited the bridge multiple times before, they couldn’t help but marvel at it once more. As the couple took a short break between the engagement shots, our photographers were ready with their cameras to click a few candid photos. Even when they spoke to each other, the two couldn’t help smiling excitedly.
The second venue for the day was Mount Washington Overlook. As we reached the venue, the two shared some interesting stories with us. The venue, Mount Washington Overlook, to us, seemed like the perfect spot for the couple to have their engagement photoshoot. The Overlook has a romantic vibe to it and is perfect for city skyline lovers. Abigail and Brain love the area because it gives them so much to do. The couple shared that they simply loved to watch the city as it sleeps at night from the Overlook, which is why they wanted to have their engagement photos taken at the venue. The couple, excitedly, told us of the different areas they have fallen in love with over time and burst out laughing whenever they remembered something funny.
For this part of their engagement photoshoot with us, the two dressed in stylishly minimalistic outfits! We enjoyed looking at them matching each other’s vibe. Despite the sunny day, the couple chose to make use of mildly dark shades for their photoshoot outfits. Abigail dressed in a delicate white dress, and a gray jacket to match Brian’s. For the footwear for the day, Abigail had wanted to stay comfortable, yet stylish. So, she picked out one of the most comfortable pairs of stilettos for the day. To complete the look, she chose minimal jewelry, white flower-shaped earrings, and a delicate studded bracelet. With only minimal jewelry, Abigail pulled off a brilliantly dazzling look. As the day was drawing to a close, the two revisited their old memories with us. To coordinate the looks once more, Brian dressed in shades of white and gray, with brown shoes. Lastly, to add the right touch to their chosen color palette for the outfits, he threw on a gray jacket! The pair took us down to Carnegie library and shared about their previous experiences there. With dazzling smiles playing on their lips, the two found themselves sitting down on the front stairs of the library to pose for a photo. As we clicked, we saw the two talk to each other about the future they will have together, and hold each other’s hands. Since the pair loved the romantic ambiance of the Mount Washington Overlook, we took some photos along the street and the delicate sidewalk.
As we were getting closer to the evening, the two wanted to take a stroll down to the public binoculars overlooking the city. Choosing one of the three circular platforms, which offered an amazing vantage point, Abigail fished out a coin to operate the coin-operated binoculars. Abigail shared that using the binoculars here, at Mount Washington Overlook, was one of the most peaceful things she had ever experienced. As she worked the binoculars, adjusting it to find the perfect city skyline, Brian could not help but stare at his fiance. The look on his face was enough to let us know that he was head over heels for her, and we clicked the perfectly-timed candid shot of the couple! Brian used the binoculars after Abigail was done looking at the city, and marveled at the skyline. To end the engagement photoshoot with some more shots of the city, this time with the Pittsburgh skyline in the backdrop! Our skilled engagement photographers helped the couple with some more poses and chose to work the natural beauty of the vantage point. Since the two love this city so much, we included the massive city skyline in the photos. Their white and light gray accents were enough to make the two stand out from the surroundings. As the two revisited old memories, shared laughs, and pulled each other into a warm embrace, we took the chance to click some more photos. Our engagement photographers took this opportunity to click a wonderfully composed engagement ring detail photo. To have some memorable keepsakes from their engagement, the two strolled down to the bridge, hand-in-hand, making plans for their future.
As the day began to turn into night, the two quietly looked at the city from the vantage point. Enjoying each other’s company, the two giggled softly as they looked at the city. The two had decided to not use engagement photoshoot props because they wanted to be naturally candid. And we couldn’t agree more with their choice. The wonderful surroundings of the Mount Washington Overlook looked just perfect for us. The destination for the engagement photoshoot was not only an enjoyable one but also seemed to look like it was a part of our couple! It was easy to see that the couple had many memories here, and they wanted to revisit them. From the Carnegie Library to the coin-operated binoculars overlooking the city, Abigail and Brian loved every part of the second destination. It is rare to find two people so in love with each other. Looking at Abigail and Briam, Friedrich Halm’s words, “Two souls with but a single thought. Two hearts that beat as one,” come to mind. Their coordinated outfits shared jokes and the smiles they had for each other were evidence enough for us to remember Halm’s words. While we had been photographing the two, we couldn’t help but notice the love they had for each other and the tourist-like attraction to the city that they live in.
