Amanda and Robert’s Sunny Wedding in Washington, DC
September, 27 2018
Amanda and Robert said “I do” outside Washington, DC in late August. The couple selected a vibrant royal blue and sunflower yellow as their wedding color palette— a perfect color combination for late summer. They used blush pink for accents. We love the way that color played into the casual tone of the nuptials, which were highlighted with summer-y details.
While Amanda and her bridesmaids got ready for the day, she left her dress hanging in the window. We love this choice because the dress looks stunning, and it also adds to the excitement of the day while you’re getting hair and makeup done. For her wedding, Amanda donned a strapless ballgown that was light as air. The organza skirt really lightened up the dress and gave the gown an ethereal look. Amanda paired the gauzy simplicity of her dress with some brightly hued flowers. She chose a stunning, monochromatic bouquet in sunflower yellow that was perfect for the occasion, and we love the way that the added greenery brought in a touch of whimsy.
Robert looked handsome in a dark navy tux with a boutonniere to match Amanda’s bouquet. We loved the pairing of these classic summery colors. Without a doubt, this was a perfect summer groom look!
The ceremony and reception were held outside at Osprey’s Golf Club, where even their pup made an appearance! Amanda and Robert got some incredible portraits with their wedding party on the lawn of the club. The cascading willow tree and expansive green lawn made for a simple, natural background. We love the way that the vibrant green highlighted the season while allowing for the wedding party to take focus and shine. The wedding party had one more thing playing to their advantage during these portraits: they took them during the golden hour, that magic time right before sunset when the light is at its most flattering.
The couple brought quaint details into their reception space to give it a warm air of romance. String lighting, greenery, and overhead chandeliers made the space feel inviting and alluring. Of course, the perfect wedding deserved the perfect send-off. Amanda and Robert’s friends and family gathered around to send off the newly married couple with a sparkler exit. We love the hazy glow of amber light this brings to wedding photos, and you won’t find a more celebratory way to end the evening.
