Boho on a Budget
March, 30 2018
Boho weddings are whimsical and romantic. They’re usually filled with details that can be expensive and time consuming. Worry not! We’ve got the tips you need to pull them off for less— less money and headaches, that is!
When it comes to your bridal look, you don’t need many extravagant extras. Boho is all about being relaxed and unstudied. Make choices that support your theme. Opt for strappy wedding sandals, go barefoot, or look for a wedding anklet (how fun!). The key is to keep your bridal look breezy. Stick with light, flowing fabrics, and the look will take care of itself. To save extra cash, you can rent or borrow your boho dress. These days there are tons of great options to find your dream dress for less.
You can keep it simple when it comes to your hair, too. Keep your hair loose and consider weaving in some delicate flowers like baby’s breath. A few well-placed blooms pack the same punch as a veil, at a lower cost and with more of a boho feel.
Choose wildflower bouquets for the bridesmaids and reserve a flower crown for yourself. Flower crowns can be expensive to purchase for all the entire bridal party, plus you deserve to stand out!
An easy way to bring a boho vibe to the ambiance of your ceremony and reception is to host the events outside. It’s easier to embrace the theme when the setting supports it already. Keep the decor light and add touches of greenery and natural elements. It doesn’t have to be perfect either!
For your ceremony, you can have a handy friend or family member make an arch out or large branches or scrap lumber. You can drape it will gauze or chiffon. The fabric will billow beautifully in the wind and will be a nice contrast to the earthy elements of the wooden arch. This is a little more labor-intensive, but your ceremony arch is a great place to focus your DIY efforts. Once you see your wedding photography, you’ll be happy you did it.
If you choose wooden reception chairs, it helps to enhance the decor, and it doesn’t take any extra effort on your part because they don’t require extra decorations. If you wish, adding greens across the newlywed's chairs add an extra flourish. For reception decor, succulents can help the theme. Add them to the cake, centerpieces, or a bouquet for a little extra boho touch. Speaking of the cake, simple naked cakes are perfect for this theme.
