Gold and Other Metallics Add Instant Glamour to Winter Weddings
December, 8 2016
If orange is the new black, then metallics are the new neutrals for winter weddings. And as it turns out, all that glitters isn’t gold.
Think sultry silvers, potent pewters, candescent coppers … and yes, glitzy golds. From centerpieces to sequined bridesmaid dresses, our Lily & Lime wedding photographers have captured it all! Metallic and neutral wedding colors are making a splash this season and offer an elegant and easy way to create the glamorous wedding you’ve been dreaming of.
Shoes are a natural place to add pizazz without being a “touch too much.” We’re partial to designs by Vince Camuto and Gianni Bini that look expensive but won’t break the bank. From t-straps to strappy sandals, peep-toes to booties, these shoes will make you and your bridesmaids feel like a million bucks.
Meanwhile, men can consider metallic-inspired accessories like ties, socks and pocket squares.
Don’t let clothing limit your creativity. Metallics can dress up your decor as well as your wedding party. Spray paint and glitter turn wine bottles into stylish centerpieces that are easily repurposed. And we love the large gold letters spelling Mr & Mrs -- just in case there was any double -- which makes for fun wedding photography.
Keep in mind, a little glitz goes a long way … so balance and an even hand is key. Pair spangles with neutrals. And limit “statement pieces” to just one. This simple, neutral bouquet is elegant without being over the top.
Follow our tips and you’re sure to have a day (and night) that is pure gold.
