Winter Romance: Marisa And Liam’s Enchanting Engagement In Minneapolis

Choosing the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is one of the best feelings. When our engagement photographer met Marisa and Liam, they knew that these two were made for each other. From the moment our photographer laid their eyes on these two, our photographers knew these two would make a lovely couple and their engagement photos would turn out to be as amazing as they did in the end. Our beautiful couple for the day had decided to choose one of the best spots in the city and knew exactly what they were looking for from their outdoor photo session. The city for their photo shoot was the lovely Twin Cities, and it was during one of the best times of the year, the winter season. The holiday season weddings are some of the best celebrations in our opinion, which means we also love the beautiful photos from engagement sessions! We love love stories, and the story Marisa and Liam wove, on that frosty day in Minneapolis, is bound to stay fresh in our heads and eyes for years to come. Our Lily and Lime photographer met the two early in the morning and was excited to get the day started. The couple had decided to use a beautiful park in the city as their photo backdrop for their photo session. 

Nestled along the banks of the Mississippi River, Minneapolis is a city that effortlessly combines natural beauty with a rich tapestry of history and culture. From its humble beginnings as a milling and timber hub, Minneapolis has grown into a vibrant metropolis known for its diverse attractions and welcoming atmosphere. Minneapolis is a visual feast for the senses, especially during the warm months when its numerous lakes come to life. The Chain of Lakes, including Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun, offers a serene escape within the city limits. Biking and walking trails wind around these lakes, providing ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. The iconic Stone Arch Bridge, spanning the Mississippi River, is a testament to the city's commitment to preserving its historic landmarks while offering breathtaking views of the skyline. Delve into the city's past at the Mill City Museum, located on the historic Mississippi Riverfront. Housed in the ruins of what was once the world's largest flour mill, this museum explores the intertwined histories of flour milling and the city itself. Among Minneapolis' iconic landmarks is the Guthrie Theater, a cutting-edge venue known for its innovative productions and striking architecture. The Walker Art Center, with its contemporary art exhibits and renowned sculpture garden, is another highlight. The Cherry and Spoon sculpture, an enduring symbol of the city, is a whimsical addition to the Minneapolis landscape. In addition to the Mill City Museum and Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the American Swedish Institute offers a unique cultural experience. Housed in a historic mansion, this museum celebrates the Swedish immigrant experience through engaging exhibits and events. The Science Museum of Minnesota caters to curious minds of all ages, featuring interactive displays and fascinating demonstrations. Minneapolis' dining scene is a fusion of flavors, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of its residents. Nicollet Mall, a bustling pedestrian avenue, is home to a myriad of restaurants and cafes offering everything from international cuisine to classic American fare. The Northeast Arts District, known for its trendy vibe, is a hotspot for craft breweries and artisanal eateries. Whether you're exploring its natural beauty, delving into history, or indulging in cultural experiences, Minneapolis is a city that invites visitors to uncover its many layers. This dynamic metropolis seamlessly weaves together its past, present, and future, making it a captivating destination for those seeking a unique urban experience.

For the day of their photo shoot with our engagement photographer, Marisa and Liam were excited. They had decided on two different yet similar outfits for the day! Their engagement photo shoot outfits were charming and exceptionally winter-esque. We loved both of the outfits. The first photo session outfit was very similar, aesthetically speaking, for both of them. These two had picked out long sweaters, which fit the vibe of the winter aesthetic. Marisa had decided to wear a long red sweater, with high and low hems, a dark blue pair of denim, and knee-length snow boots. To pair his outfit with Marisa, Liam used a sea-green sweater, a black pair of denim, and black snow boots. For their second set of outfits, the two had decided to wear similar outfits. But this was mostly them choosing to keep themselves warm. They had an overcoat to protect themselves from the chilly environment. Liam had a black jacket to throw on his outfit, while Marisa had a lovely beige oversized coat. To go with the vibe of the season, these two had cute hats, woolen, to make their outfit complete! To ensure that their outdoor engagement photo session was complete, our beautiful couple also decided to bring their two poppers. And to be honest, something is mesmerizing about engagement photo sessions that involve pets. Our Minneapolis engagement photographer was happy to see the two beautiful dogs and the lovely backdrop for the day. 

For the day, our engagement photographer took a look around the engagement photo location and knew exactly where they wanted the couple to pose to capture the best photos. This couple confided in our engagement photographer that they could not wait for their wedding day. And once we saw the photos of these two, we knew exactly why! The couple’s love for each other was unmistakable and could not be missed in the photos. For the first part of the photo session, our photographer took photos of the two without their overcoats and jackets. The photo shoot spots in the park they had decided on were lovely spots. The winter mood was heavy all around them, on top of that the snow-capped landscape was just right for the couple to shine through. Our photographer knew exactly what to do. Quickly looking around and choosing a few spots, they directed a few photos to help the couple make the most of their photo session. The outdoor aesthetic of the snowy winter day was just what we wanted to see! Starting very normally and realistically, the couple did not pose for many “couple-y” photos. Their photos, even the posed ones were lovely, and more on the candid photo pose’s side. And we loved every bit of it! Our engagement photographer took a few photos with the backdrop of the frosted trees. These trees made their photo session look right out of a fairytale! 

As Marisa and Liam walked through the frosty park, our photographer took a few photos of the two. These candid photos of the two were a true testament to what they felt for each other. With their smiles and the few stolen glances, there was so much love that passed between these two. As they walked around in the park, these two told our photographer that they had started their wedding planning and had started to make a few arrangements as well. They mentioned that their wedding venue for the special day’s celebration was The Westin Edina Galleria. Apart from this, the couple had also started booking their wedding vendors, which included the wedding band and the wedding caterer. By then, our photographer had found a great spot for the two to pose in. This spot was surrounded by pristine white snow, and trees. Snow sat softly on the branches of these trees, almost waiting to be fluffed and brought to the ground. Our photographer had decided to direct a few photos which included them posing in romantic ways. These engagement photos turned out to be beautiful and worthy of a photo book. Starting with these two holding hands, our photographer directed them to embrace each other for a photo. As the two were posing, the moment was filled with even more heartfelt moments as the two giggled, laughed and almost plopped over due to the snow all around them. After that, the two kept walking and our photographer was on the lookout for a few amazing photo spots, which they found after a bit. As the two were walking, they came across a short wall, which was made of stones and bricks. Our photographer knew that this snow-covered brick wall was just right for a photo session. 

Here, Marisa and Liam posed with lovely smiles and struck some romantic poses too. Most of these photos are Instagram-worthy! Our photographer decided to frame the photos in such a way that the surroundings were highlighted but did not overpower the photos. That aside, our photographer helped these two come up with some sophisticated yet romantic photo poses for the camera. Liam lifted Marisa up, spun her around, and even twirled with her in the snow. Before the two put on their overcoats, our photographer took a few lovely candid photos of the couple. As the couple was gearing up for the last leg of their photo session, they were happy and so in love with each other. That aside, the two were being playful with each other. After the photo, where the two were kissing each other, they somehow forgot about the world around them. They smiled, looked into each other’s eyes, and simply enjoyed themselves. Liam had turned Marisa around, and kissed her cheek from the back, to which Marisa giggled first and then smiled. Another one of our favorite photos of the two was when Liam simply hugged her. And before the two put on their overcoats, Liam pulled Marisa close and kissed her forehead. With that, these two quickly put on their warmer clothes and posed with their pups. 

Our photographer took a few photos of these two posing for the camera with their doggos all around them. These two were smiling, and so were their pretty four-legged companions. These photos turned out to be amazing. As Liam and Marisa crouched down to pose with their lovely dogs, our photographer took a few photos of them. Their dogs looked just as happy as them to pose for photos. Once the two were done, they decided to walk around the park, once more, to find some spots where they could pose for a few more photos. Our photographer found some impressive spots and also found some pretty areas that they had not posed in before. Using the stairs in the park, our photographer had the two pose for photos on the stairs. Marisa and Liam sat down on the stairs, right next to each other, and posed for a few more photos. Looking into the camera they smiled, and then in one of the photos, Marisa turns around to whisper something really sweet to Liam, which makes him smile adorably. Before they walk off to another spot, Marisa softly kisses him, our photographer takes a photo of them. And then, our photographer took a few more photos of these two being happy and in love. Towards the end of the photo session, our photographer took photos of the two as they stood below some trees with frosted branches. Bumping heads and smiling at each other, this couple concluded their amazing photo session with big smiles. As our photographer was leaving for the day, our photographer could see the two’s love for each other. After seeing their photos, we knew for a fact that these two were made for each other!
