Yanni and Mil’s Perfectly Portland Engagement Session in Portland, OR
July, 18 2018
Yanni and Mil had a casual outdoor engagement shoot full of local flair in Portland, OR.
The duo began their engagement photo session at Cathedral Park, which is situated on the North Portland Peninsula and lies on the east shore of the Willamette River. The surrounding neighborhood was named for the park, which is located under St. John’s Bridge. It was given the name Cathedral Park because of the way the Gothic arches that support the bridge resemble a cathedral arch. It’s a picturesque spot that makes for a stunning engagement photography backdrop.
Yanni and Mil kept their looks casual with t-shirts and jeans. We loved that the couple chose colors for their apparel that complimented the setting, showing that you can keep the dress code casual and cohesive at the same time.
Even though the location didn’t change too much for the engagement shoot, Yanni and Mil’s photographer still got a variety of photos. Some of our particular favorites include an overhead shot of the couple lying in the grass that had a charming and charismatic quality, and the shots in front of the bridge, where the couple was perfectly framed by the bridge on both sides. Color played a role in the shoot, too! Vibrant shades of green from the grass and the trees were harmonious with the green of the bridge.
The couple paused for a quick outfit change during the session. Yanni traded her t-shirt for a beautiful blue dress, while Mil rocked a button down for his second look. Then, they continued to explore the park with their photographer. They even took to the skies to get a stunning rooftop photo, surrounded by the cityscape of Portland.
Yanni’s ring had its moment to steal the show for a few photos. The round, diamond solitaire with a halo set in rose gold was a real stunner. It definitely deserved to have a moment, and we love how the couple chose to highlight the ring in a few shots. We always love to see that bling!
Yanni and Mil ended their session by taking to the city streets. We always love to see the couple highlight the city where they live (and often the one where they fell in love) in their engagement sessions. It brings such life and a personal touch to the photos.
